Lillian Angelene Anderson, 81, of Rockwood, died Thursday, May 21, 2009, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
Born Feb. 12, 1928, in Roane County, she was the daughter of William Roosevelt McCaleb and Thelma Edith Brown, both of whom preceded her in death.
She was a member of Speights Chapel AME Zion Church, Rockwood, where she served on the kitchen committee and was class leader for many years. She was retired from Kayser-Roth and Palm Beach Mill Outlet, and she volunteered at the Rockwood Ministerial Association and Clothes Closet.
She was like a mother and sister to all who knew her in the community and city, and she was a good cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny Anderson; sisters, Primrose Siler and Elizabeth Hickey; and brothers, W.R. McCaleb, Lewis Edward McCaleb and Clarence "Honey" McCaleb.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Princess Anderson of Chattanooga; grandson, Obadiah Anderson of Chattanooga; sisters, Ebbie Marie Frazier and Barbara Chapman, both of Rockwood; goddaughter, Latoya Chapman of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Vivian McCaleb of Chattanooga; niece, Gail Tarter of Rockwood; special friends, the Rev. and Mrs. Lonnie McIntyre of Knoxville; special friends and cousins, Bessie Carney of Rockwood and Lois Sharp of Claxton; and many friends, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, in Evans Mortuary, Rockwood.
Funeral service will follow, with Lonnie McIntyre, the Rev. Jesse L. Williams and the Rev. Barbara Haigler officiating.
Graveside service and burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Rockwood.
