Emma was the youngest child of John C. and Margaret S. (Koch/Marks) Woodel. As a young woman, Emma moved to Pittsburgh where she worked as a caretaker for the disabled son of a doctor. Her son David S. Prentice was born in Pittsburgh. His father's name was allegedly John Prentice, but in 1930, Emma was living back in Blair county as Emma Halton, a divorcee. She later married John William Anderson, and they resided at her grandmother's old home at 109 Juniata St. in Hollidaysburg. Emma was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Emma and John had no children. Emma died very young of cancer, and was survived by her young son, her mother and stepfather, and brother and sister.
