A MEMORIAL ONLY

John was the son of James Thomas "J.T." Anderson, Sr. and Susan Emmaline (Phillips) Anderson.

On September 8, 1870, John and Cyntha Ann Pond were married in Malvern, Hot Spring County, Arkansas. A copy of the marriage license and the beautiful certificate that was in her big Family Bible are in their Family History Book. They had seven children.

1--James "Jim" Albert [1871-1932]
2--Alice Alzera Alvarado [1873-1953]
3--Robert "Bob" Lee Andrew [1876-1938]
4--Emmaline "Emma" Martha [1878-1971]
5--Dora Allena [1880-1938]
6--Louella "Lou" Elizabeth [1883-1960]
7--Edna Alexandria [1887-1980]

John left his family in Texas going to visit his family in Arkansas. He never returned to his family in Texas. He went to Indian Territory, now Oklahoma where he met an Indian woman by the name of Molly. He lived with her until his death. They supposedly had children together and I do know that there was a John Alexander Anderson, Jr. born in 1894. John actually died in Indian Territory. Oklahoma did not become a state until 1907. When he died the Indians buried him on a prairie, what is now Durant, Oklahoma. His family in Texas was notified. My grandfather, James Albert Anderson went to Indian Territory to get the body of his dad. He could not do it by him self. He built a white picket fence around the grave so he could find it when he returned. He went back to Texas and got his brother-in-law, Will Mangum to go back with him. When they got back to Indian Territory, there had been a prairie fire and they could not find the fence or John's grave. They had to leave him there. This was a sorrow that my grandfather never got over.

This is a Memorial only for my g-grandfather, John Alexander Anderson. I chose the Frederick Cemetery for his Memorial, because his oldest son, James Albert Anderson and several of his grandchildren are buried here.

The picture of him is taken from an old tin type picture that is in the Family Bible that belonged to Cyntha, given to her by John.

John Alexander was my great-grandfather.
