Jewell Anderson Kennedy - CLAXTON - Jewell Anderson Kennedy, 83, passed away May 4, 2011 at Evans Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Claxton, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Clayton and Nannie Lou Smith Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward (Bill) Kennedy. Mrs. Kennedy graduated from Claxton High School and the Georgia Teachers College now Georgia Southern University. She was employed by the Evans County Board of Education as a teacher for 37 years before retiring in 1984. She touched the lives of many children. She was a quiet and gracious person who loved her family and who saw the best in everyone. She was always patient and selfless often placing the needs of family beyond her own. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Claxton and a member of the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Survivors: two daughters and son in-law, Laraine Mizell, Teresa and Randy DeLoach of Claxton; two brothers, Larry Anderson and Brooks Anderson of Claxton; four grandchildren, Amanda Mizell, Regan DeLoach (Chris) Burr of Atlanta, Clay DeLoach of Claxton and Marley Mizell of Statesboro and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: Friday May 6, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at J. Mellie Nesmith Funeral Home. Funeral: Saturday May 7, 2011 11:00 a.m. at Claxton First Untied Methodist Church. Burial: Brewton Cemetery.
