Beatrice (Bea) Leah McCready Anderson died Aug. 12, 2011, at Country View of Sunbury (Ohio).
Bea had lived in Ohio for the past two years.
She was born and raised in Saltville and spent most of her life there. Bea loved the town of Saltville, its people and history. She enjoyed being a part of the Saltville Historical Society and volunteering in the museum. Bea's interests included animal rights, genealogy, local history, and walking in her beloved town. She was a member of Madam Russell United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Anderson, her daughter, Linda Anderson Hodgson, and her parents, James F. and Rosa. F. McCready; four brothers, Frank, Carl, Raymond and Jimmy McCready, and three sisters, Pauline Maiden, Mary Harper and Helen Totten.
Survivors include her sons, Bill Anderson and wife, Carol, of Westerville, Ohio, and Jim Anderson and wife, Kay, of Boone, N.C., three grandchildren, Jill Anderson (Waxhaw, N.C.), Jared Anderson (Westerville, Ohio), and Lindsey Anderson (Washington, D.C.).; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family was at D.R. Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 15. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, in Elizabeth Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jill, Jared and Lindsey Anderson; Rodney Anderson, Charlie McCready and Tommy Lee Totten. Honorary pallbearers were Chub Arnold, T Bone Lewis and Peewee Osborne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bea's memory to Smyth County Humane Society, PO Box 1124, Marion, VA 24354 or Saltville Rescue Squad, 126 Battleground Avenue, Saltville, VA 24370.
