Billie Sue Anderson, 80, of Fort Worth passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Pecan Grove Cemetery, McKinney. Visitation: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects and to sign the register book Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Memorials: TCU Women's Athletic Department or the Humane Society of North Texas.
Billie Sue was born June 30, 1932, in McKinney to William Shaw Anderson and Dixie Vida Brimer Anderson. She graduated from McKinney High School and received her bachelor of science and master's degree in physical education from Texas Christian University. Billie Sue taught school for four years at Carr Junior High School in Orange and was an emeritus assistant professor of kinesiology and physical education for 41 years at TCU. Billie Sue's mother owned and operated Dixie's Store in McKinney, which subsequently was donated to Chestnut Square. She also donated a portion of her parents' property to the Buckner Children's Home in Dallas. Billie Sue was an ardent supporter of TCU and the promotion of women's athletics. She touched the lives of many close friends, colleagues and students throughout her career. Billie Sue was preceded in death by her parents, W.S. and Dixie Anderson.
Survivors: Friends, Blake Amos and wife, Sonia, of Fort Worth and Wendy Warner of Ohio; and her beloved cats.
