Clyde F. Anderson, 79, of the Mt. Harmony community near Niota, died Monday night, March 9, 2009, at Life Care Center of Athens.


A native of Murphy, N.C., he was a son of the late Walter and Edith King Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lowry Anderson; one daughter, Joletta McKeehan; one sister, Aileen Anderson; and two brothers, Dillard and Robert Anderson. He was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, and was a member of the Farm Bureau. He spent most of his life farming on his farm in the Mt. Harmony Community. He was a member of the Tennessee National Guard and was activated during the Korean War.


Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte A. Vincent of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronny and Tonsie Anderson and Donny and Janice Anderson, all of Athens; five granddaughters and two spouses, Jennifer Jack, Kristen and Brent Freeman, Kourtney Anderson, Edith and Andy Hughes and Delilah Anderson; one grandson and wife, Ben and Holly Vincent; one great-granddaughter, A.J. Vincent; five sisters, Martha Jean Evans of Dublin, Ga., Joyce Sweet of Alcoa, Betty Ratledge of Little Rock, Ark., Barbara Snyder of Chattanooga, and Janet Kennedy of Chattanooga; two brothers, Claude Anderson of Englewood, and Bill Anderson of Orlando, Fla.; and one-sister-in-law, Martha Sue Anderson.


Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Jerry Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mt. Harmony Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.


The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, 360 County Road 360, Niota, TN 37826.
