Mary was born August 28, 1924 to Robert Fate Anderson and Lola Trobaugh Anderson in Dekalb County, Tennessee. She had one sister, Jean and one brother, Bob. On October 31, 1947, she married William (Billy)Earl VanHooser. They had one beautiful daughter named Helen. After her husband's death she married Millard Steward. Mary lived a simple life and always worked hard to care for her daughter and her mother who lived with them. She was a very undemanding person even though life demanded a lot from her at times. She never drove a car and most of her education was from the School of Life but she always had faith in God and attended church as long as her health allowed. She ironed for other people until the age of 75 and could crease a pair of pants that would cut your finger. Mary enjoyed life to the fullest! She was a true friend to everyone who knew her. When anyone would visit she always wanted their visit to end with prayer. She was a very non-judgmental person who loved people and enjoyed being with her family. Even having spent her last 3 years in a nursing home, she still held tight to her love of life. She was loved so much by the doctors and nurses that cared for her. Her presence will always be missed but we have the assurance that she is in Heaven and someday she will meet us at the gates of Heaven and she will say,"There's my (insert your name)......"
We love you, Mary!
