Death Claims Nurse Of World War I
Miss Amanda Anderson, 77, well-known resident of Norway died at 7:10 yesterday morning at the Freeman Convalescent Home following a long illness.
Miss Anderson was born February 18, 1886, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eric Anderson, pioneers of the city.
She was a veteran of World War I serving with the Nurses' Corp. in Richland, Texas, from March 10, 1918 to August 3, 1919. Following the war she served as Supervisor of Nurses at the Broadlawn Tuberculosis Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, until her retirement, when she returned to Norway to reside.
She leaves two brothers, Alfred, of San Diego, Calif., and Bernard, of Norway.
Friends may call at the Asp Memorial Funeral home after 7 tonight.
Services will be at 2 tomorrow afternoon at the Bethany Lutheran church. The Rev. Theodore Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the Norway township cemetery.
