Lorrene Mae Fennern Anderson, 79, of Palmetto, FL, formerly of Vinton, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Hospice House in Bradenton, FL. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton with Pastor Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Lorrene’s body was cremated.
Lorrene was born September 20, 1929, in Avoca, Iowa, the daughter of August and Josephine Pauley Fennern. She lived on a farm most of her life. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton.
Lorrene was united in marriage with Warren Anderson, and the two were later divorced.
She worked as a farm wife for 30 years, then at La Grange’s and Hardee’s in Vinton, retiring to Florida in 2001. She was past President of the Women’s Auxiliary Vinton Fraternal Order of Eagles. Lorrene was the #1 fan/band mother of Ratler. She also enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens.
Lorrene is survived by her loving family: one daughter, Colleen Forristall of Palmetto, FL; two sisters: Marlene Overton of Cedar Rapids and Audrey Mayhew of Hillsboro, OR; two grandchildren: David Forristall of Palmetto, FL, and Tonaleen Connelly of Sedalia, MO; and many Anderson in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Steve Anderson.
