Eldo Jones Anderson, 98, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 25, 2010, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton Kansas.
He was born October 30, 1912, in Newton, to Joy D. Anderson and Pearl (Jones) Anderson.
He married Lola M. Price on July 14, 1933 and they celebrated 77 years together. She survives.
Eldo worked for the Santa Fe as a Brakeman and a Conductor, later as a partner in Anderson Brother's Painting & Decorating Company and Anderson's Paint & Wallpaper Co. He loved working in his woodworking shop, collecting Newton history and memorabilia, stamps, antique clocks and furniture. He will be remembered for all the beautiful furniture he built.
Eldo is survived by his sons, Arlen (Paula) Anderson, of Newton Steve (Shelley) Anderson of Independence, Missouri. Daughters Joyce (Arnie) McCloud of Newton, Jolene Anderson Weber of Newton and LeAnna (Tim) Reimer of Hesston.
Brothers Paul Anderson of McMinneville, Oregon, and Don (Rae Ann) of Newton. Sisters Martha (Willis) Overholt of Newton, and Jennie (Norman) Beneke of Newbury Park, California. Sixteen grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Loren Anderson, granddaughter Amy Anderson, brothers, Joy (Johnny), Lynn, Lyle, Walter and William. His sisters Eleanor Jane and Mary Elizabeth.
He was a member of Grace Community Church of Newton.
