Former Fergus Falls chief of police, Clarence Anderson,
80, died Thursday at Lake Region Hospital. Services will
be 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, at Zion Lutheran Church, Fergus Falls, with Rev. James W. Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens.
Born July 21, 1900 in Aurdal Township, he was one of six children of Albert and Thea Anderson. He was baptised and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. He and Alice Rose were married in Fergus Falls on Aug. 24, 1933.
He worked at Fergus Auto and later, 70 Service. He joined the Fergus Falls police department in 1942, serving as captain, then as chief of police. He retired from the police force in 1966.
Since his retirement he has worked at the American Legion as baliff at the courthouse, at Tysver Nursery and
most recently as a desk clerk at the Lakeland Motel.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, and three sisters, Mrs.
Alvin (Ethel) Young of Dalton, and Mrs. Lena Minge and
Mrs. Andrew (Lillian) Tostenson, both of Fergus Falls. The family prefers memorials to the National Kidney Foundation, the American Heart Fund or Zion Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m.
until 9:30 Monday at the Glende-Johnson-Nelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral at the chcurch.
