TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA - Reed Arlow Anderson, of Torrance, California, passed away October 8, 2000, after a 21-month battle with cancer. He was born February 19, 1939, in Bear River City, Utah. He was the third son and third child of six children born to Arlow Conley and Fontella Hansen Anderson.

He attended Elwood Elementary School and graduated from Bear River High School in 1957. After high school graduation, Reed attended Utah State University and graduated from the college of Electrical Engineering in June 1961.

His work would take him to Salt Lake City, where he was employed at the Backus Division of Hercules Corporation in Magna and then on to Los Angeles where he would spend the remainder (34 years) of his career at Hughes Aircraft.

Reed married Jean Kay Worman on August 30, 1969, in Ogden. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

At the time as his death he was a High Priest in the Redoudo Second Ward. He had served as the Elders Quorum President, Sunday School President, Ward Clerk, Counselor in the Bishopric, and as a High Priest Group Leader. He was called to several positions on a Stake level but declined to do so, because he felt that his most important calling was that of a home teacher.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; four daughters, Sheryl (Jesse) Graham, Debi (Kevin) Kaue, Heidi Anderson, Julie Anderson; six grandchildren; three granddaughters, Brooke Anderson, Aubree Graham, Ashley Graham; three grandsons, Taytor Graham, Travis Graham, Tanner Graham, all of Torrance, California.

Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Fontella Anderson, Elwood; two sisters, Connie Rae (Cody) Roche, Elwood; Sherree Ann Chournos, Tremonton; one brother, Gary Lynn (Roxie) Anderson, Garland.

He was preceded in death by his father and older twin brothers.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 13, at the Tremonton South Stake Center, with Bishop Bryan Buchanan officiating.

Burial in the Plain City Cemetery under the direction of Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home.

Funeral services were also held in Torrance, California on Wednesday, October 11.
