Carl M. Anderson, 81, of 4927 Tenterden Drive, Onondaga Hill, died Sunday at Crouse Hospital.
He was born in Chicago and lived in the Syracuse area for 45 years. He retired as an engineering manager for the compressor department of Carrier Corp. He was a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology and a member of Pi Tau Sigma and Tau Beta Pi. He was an engineer for the U.S. government's Manhattan Project during World War II. He was a member of Erwin United Methodist Church, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Survivors: his wife, the former Dorothy Long; three daughters, Gail Russell of Camillus, Merrel Long of Downingtown, Pa., and Alice Anderson-Stevenson of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in Erwin United Methodist Church, 920 Euclid Ave., Syracuse. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Greenleaf Funeral Home, 503 W. Onondaga St., Syracuse.
