Son of Melton James Anderson and Ovelia Anderson. Husband of Jacqueline Akins.
Henry Rawdon Anderson, 86, died August 8 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Indiana. Born in Evans County on March 19, 1920, Mr. Anderson was the son of Melton and Ola (Anderson) Anderson, both deceased and stepson of Julia (Canon) Anderson, also deceased. He married Jacqueline Akin on August 26, 1945. She preceded him in death on April 8, 1989. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson made their home in Savannah, and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Mr. Anderson moved to Rushville, Indiana in November 2000.
---- Mr. Anderson was a 1937 graduate of Register High School in Register. He was a veteran of WWII (1941-1945) where he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a B24 mechanic. Mr. Anderson worked in a variety of positions, but he devoted the last 30 years as a plant manager of a construction company from which he retired in 1985. He was a member of Main Street Christian Church in Rushville. Prior to his involvement there, Mr. Anderson was active at First Christian Church in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. where he served as elder, deacon, board president, and church treasurer.
---- Surviving are his daughter, Gail Miller (Mrs. Robert) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and his son, Hank Anderson (and wife, Deann) of Rushville; four grandchildren; two-great grandsons; two sisters, Wenona Daniel (Mrs. E.W.) of Claxton, and Martha Ellis (Mrs. Sinclair) of Macon and one brother, Jack Anderson (and wife, Willette) of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews.
---- Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, M.J. Jr., Willard, and Dalton, and four sisters, Ulma, Una, Alvarien, and Mary.
---- Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Main Street Christian Church in Rushville with Pastor Deann Anderson officiating. Graveside services and burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Ephesus Cemetery of Bulloch County with Elder Jack Anderson officiating and J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home handling the arrangements.
---- Memorial contributions may be made to the Reach for Tomorrow Fund of Main Street Christian Church or to the charity of one's choice.
---- Moster and Cox Mortuary, 334 N. Main St., Rushville, Indiana was in charge of arrangements.
