George Brennemen Anderson was born July 13, 1883 in Mt. Pleasant, Sanpete Co., Utah to John Haarby Anderson and Josephine Halseth. He was their third son to be born but the first to survive infancy. His parents were immigrants from Norway. The family lived in Mt. Pleasant, Utah where most of the settlers were from Scandinavian countries. George attended school in Mt. Pleasant and when he was about seven years old, the Anderson family moved to Park City, Summit Co., Utah where his father was employed in the silver mines. George had three younger brothers, Cyrus, Archie and Lafayette and one sister, Lena Pearl. Of the seven children of John and Josephine, only George, Cy, and Lafe lived to adulthood. George finished his schooling in Park City.
George married Bertha Jane Gilbert of Boise, Idaho in 1910 and Boise became their home for many years. George worked as a machinist and also loved to play baseball. Their daughter, Josephine May, was born in 1911. They became members of the "Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints".
George and Bertha moved to Independence, Missouri in later years. George died there in 1974. He lived until the age of 90, surviving his younger two brothers by many years. He was survived by his wife, Bertha, and their daughter, Josephine and her husband, Everett Smith, and two grandchildren. He is buried next to Bertha, who survived him by one year, in the Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
