Dr. James Morch Anderson of St. James passed away Thursday, August 14, 1997 at his home. He had attained the age of 91 years, 11 months and 5 days.

Dr. James Morch Anderson was born in Belleville, Illinois on September 9, 1905 to James Arthur and Senora Morch Anderson. (Dr. Anderson¬'s grandfather fought in the Civil War for the south, was a captured prisoner, and escaped to settle in Illinois, where Dr. Anderson was born.) James lived his first 16 years in Alabama where his father was a mining engineer.

The family moved to St. Louis where he graduated from Central High School. He attended St. Louis University School of Dentistry, graduating in 1928.

In 1926 he married Georgia Mae Franck and after practicing dentistry for 20 years in St. Louis, they moved to St. James where he continued his practice for 30 more years.

The Anderson¬'s bought property from Jonathan Delano, somewhere about 1947, and due to his impatience to build, Dr. Anderson remembers, he drove his stakes 3 feet tall in the snow, to begin his home in St. James. It now stands as a lovely residence, at the corner of Jackson and Scioto and Dr. Anderson had his dental office facing Jackson street in the west end of his home.

He devoted time to his farm "Prairie Hill Farm" of Vichy. Dr. Anderson was quoted once saying, "I like to fancy myself as a dirt farmer". In 1985, Georgia Mae passed away after 58 years of marriage. In August of 1985 he married Betty Ruth Preis. He lived to celebrate their 12th anniversary when he passed away in his sleep.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church of St. James, St. James Masonic Lodge #230 AF & AM having served as Past Master, a member of York Rite Bodies, Moolah Shrine and a 32nd degree Mason. Dr. Anderson was also a member of Delta Sigma Delta an International Dental Fraternity and a life member of the American Dental Association, the Missouri State and Central District.

He is survived by his wife Betty Ruth Anderson (nee Green), cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A Masonic Service was conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 1997 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in St. James with Father Keith Raske officiating. Pallbearers were: John Atkins, Steve Barber, Gary Huffman, Carl Eyberg, Dr. Hugh Bartlett and Ray Free. Burial was in the St. James Cemetery.
