PORT ROYAL -- Dee Rice Amyx, 94, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at her residence.

She was a native of Berkeley, CA, and a daughter of the late Salem Jewell and Matilda Wegner Rice. She was formerly of Lexington, KY, and a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Lexington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Amyx. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and Wendell Berry of Port Royal; grandchildren, Mary and Chuck Smith and Den and Billie Berry of Henry County, KY; five great-grandchildren, Katie Jean Smith, Virginia Dee Smith, Tanya Christine Smith, Emily Rose Berry and Marshall Amyx Berry, all of Henry County; and a brother, Charles Rice of Elon, NC.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Prewitt New Castle (KY) Funeral Home, with Rev. Carl Rucker, pastor of Port Royal Baptist Church, Rev. Cynthia Cain, pastor of Lexington Unitarian Universalist Church, and Dr. David Charlton, pastor of New Castle First Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Port Royal Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Port Royal Baptist Church, Box 45, Port Royal, KY 40058 or to the Unitarian Universalist Church in Lexington.
