Esther Amundson, 88, of Brodhead and formerly of Dallas died July 9 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. Funeral services were Friday, July 15, 2005, at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Grove, rural Dallas, with the Rev. John Erickson officiating and interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Mark Rausch Funeral Home in Dallas and Friday at the church for 1 hour before the service

Mrs. Amundson was born May 11, 1917 to John and Elise (Stoa) Vik in the Town of Sioux Creek. The family moved to Dallas when she was 2 years old, and Mrs. Amundson attended school there and then was a telephone operator in Dallas for some time. On Feb. 8, 1947 she married Ben Amundson at Hillsdale, and they farmed in the Town of Dallas until retirement.

She is survived by two sons, Lyle of Chetek and Jerry of Brodhead, three grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Julia Halverson of Menomonie and Signe Holmen of Hudson.

Mrs. Amundson’s husband, Ben, died Aug. 5, 1985.
