NOTE: Two sources, Jane Naus (#47008117), AND Jenoel57, on the Ancestry Famly Tree, Sadler_2010_09_12_2010-10-13 report a first marriage 3 Feb 1882, Cape Girardeau, Girardeau Co., MO, to Susannah Elizabeth Muster, b. 20 Aug 1862, d. bef 1891. There is an image of the of the marriage on record in Cape Girardeau County, accessible on Ancestry.com.
In a family write up, one of his sons stated that he departed La Harve, France and arrived in New York in December 1880 on the French Steam Ship SS Labrador, and destined for Cape Girardeau, MO to visit his sick sister, Elizabeth. A passenger manifest for a voyage in that period could not be found; however that is not unusual.
