Roy Alton Amonett, 76, of Haskell, passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 11, 2007 at Cornerstone Fellowship Baptist Church, Haskell with Dr. Troy Culpepper and Rev. Morris Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Roy was born in Haskell November 17, 1930 to Willis and Alta Mullins Amonett. On June 6, 1952 he married Omitene Strickland. He worked for WTU as a shift supervisor where he retired after 35 years. Roy was also a former United States Marine.

He is survived by: his wife, Omitene Amonett of Haskell; son, Rodney Amonett and wife, Pamela of Abilene; daughter, Derinda Hannsz and husband, Keith of Haskell; brother, Eldon Ray Amonett of Denver City; sister, Dorthy Lane Strickland of Rochester; step-sister, Nannie Burns of Wolf City; three grandchildren, Denise Hoover, Aaron Amonett and Jeremy Gentry; three great-grandchildren, Payton Amonett, Felicity Gentry and A.J Amonett.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Eunice Amonett and step-brother Bill Pannell.
