Francis M. Ammon was born in 1838 in Rush Co., Indiana, the son of Zachariah & Mary Ammon. He enlisted as a Private on January 14, 1864 at the age of 26. Joining Co. I, 4th Iowa Cavalry Regiment. Mustered out on May 19, 1865 at Davenport, IA. -
