Benjamin Reed Ammerman, 73, native of Harrison County and resident of Route 1, Paris, died at the Harrison Memorial Hospital 8:20 p.m. Wednesday after an illness of several months.

He was a member of the Cynthiana First Methodist Church, a past president of Paris Lions Club, a member of Townsend and Hilltop Gun Clubs, a graduate Cynthiana High School where he was an outstanding athlete and had served on the board of Stewards of the Methodist Church.

Ammerman is survived by his wife: Mary Alice Talbott Ammerman; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Jim Cox, Louisville, Mrs. Mary Benn Adams, Springfield, Virgnia; three sisters: Mrs. Lou Wilson, Cynthiana; Miss Sue Ammerman, Miami, Florida. There are five grandchildren: Robert and Laura Cox; Gregory, Christpher and Cynthia Adams.

Funeral services were conducted at the Whaley Funeral Home Saturday 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Robert Wallace. Interment was in Battle Grove

Serving as active pallbeaers were George Givens Ammerman, Tony John, Bruce Forsythe, Bart Dickenson, Donald Ray Hutson and Ted Wilson.

Serving as honorary pallbears were Amos Turney, Ken Kiser, Dr. Erwin Asriel, D.R. Summay, Joe Ammerman, Dr. H. Tod Smiser, Harold Coppage and J.B. Moore.
