He was one of the organizers of and first Vice President of the Highland State Bank, which in 1903 became the First National Bank. He was cashier of the latter for many years then President.
He was born in Knecanaccht, Switzerland.
Emigrated to America with his parents arriving in Highland IL on 13 Jan 1851

He and Julia married on December 4, 1871. When he died, he was the retired president of the First National Bank.
