Marjorie Louise Owen Amidon, 89, of Charlottesville, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Charlottesville.
She was born on August 7, 1921, in Wylliesburg, Virginia, the daughter of the late Sydnor Lee Owen and Pauline Price Holloway Owen. Also preceding her are, her husband of 44 years, Robert Horace Amidon, and her brother, Sydnor Lee Owen.
After graduating from Mary Washington College in 1942, Marjorie worked for the Federal Government in different capacities for 40 years; her last position was as a Legislative Aide, writing law. She was a long time member of Word of Faith Church of Charlottesville, and Lake of the Woods Church in Locust Grove.
Survivors include her four children, Robert Bruce Amidon and his wife Valerie, of Valley Village, California, Patricia Lynne Packett and her husband, James, of Kevil, Kentucky, Louise Alayne Ficklin and her husband, Carroll, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Meredith Ann Amidon, of Charlottesville; a sister-in-law, Marvelle Owen; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a grand-dog, Bohdi.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Eileen Lehmann officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the Old Section at Culpeper National Cemetery, with Pastor Thomas Schafer officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
