AMES, Robert Allan "Bob" SMSGT United States Air Force (Ret) July 10,1929 ~ April 10, 2015 Bob was born in Springfield, Vermont to Allan and Doris (Allen) Ames on July 10, 1929. After graduating from high school Bob joined the U.S. Air Force in 1946 where he faithfully served honorably for 21 years. In 1976 he was promoted to the grade of SMSGT on the USAF Retired List by reason of completing 30 years of service. After retiring from active duty he and his family relocated to Spokane in 1967 when he began to work for the Bonneville Power Administration and he retired in 1984. Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter. He never met a lake, river or stream he didn't like. He went on his last hunting trip in November of last year where he, "missed the biggest buck I've ever seen." Bob married Louise Krautkramer in 1950 and together they had seven children; John, Margaret, Cynthia, Catherine, Elizabeth, Robert, and Timothy who survive him in death. They later divorced. He married Joyce Roberts in 1984. Bob is preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2012 and is survived by his stepdaughter Lorraine and her children Lindsay, Jona, Kate and step son John. Bob is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his stepsister Joyce and survived by his stepsisters Patricia and Linda and stepbrothers Richard and Forrest. At Bob's request, a private graveside service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park. We wish to thank those at Hospice of Spokane that looked after Bob over the last several months, especially Colleen and Sandi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice of Spokane in Bob's memory.
