MATTOON -- Della May Ames, age 80, of Mattoon, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2004, at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home. Memorial services celebrating her life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Andrew Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Della was born May 28, 1923, in Mattoon, a daughter of Jasper and Anna (Schroeder) Patterson. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include her son, Scott Ames and wife Tina of McDonough, Georgia; two daughters, Donna Elliott and husband Randy of Mattoon and Kathy Owen; five grandchildren, Mark Elliott, Lori Elliott, Chase Ames, Anna Ames and Brooke Ames; one brother, James E. Patterson and wife Edna of El Centro, California; and one sister, Martha Oye of Mattoon. Ms. Ames retired from Walgreen Drug. She attended the New Life Apostolic Church and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
