Acquas Clarence Ambrose, 70, of 5733 Fourth St., Glenrock, died yesterday at 6:35 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after an illness of two years. A native of Plymouth, N.C., he had lived here the last 50 years. His parents were David Franklin and Mrs. Carolina Gray Ambrose. His wife, Mrs. Martha Atkins Ambrose, died some years ago.
He was a member of the Somme Avenue Church of Christ.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Calvin Avery of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two sons, John D. Ambrose and Carl D. Ambrose, both of Glenrock; three stepsons, William L. Holland of Miami, Fla., Joseph H. Holland of Baltimore, Md., and Ed M. Holland of Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Claude Oliver of Plymouth, N.C.; three half-brothers, W.C. Ambrose of Norfolk, the Rev. M.L. Ambrose of Creswell, N.C., and W.D. Ambrose of Laurel; three half-sisters, Mrs. W.H. Marler of Norfolk, Mrs. Charlie Turner of Alexandria and Mrs. Donnie West of Columbia, N.C.; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
