Daughter of the late John Benjamin and Mary "Mollie" Waters Everett, she was a 1944 graduate of Bath High School. She continued her education in the nursing field. She worked in the nursery at Beaufort County Hospital retiring in 1987. She married George Ricks Ambrose on Janaury 18, 1946. He preceded her in death on Janaury 22, 1999. She was an active member of Athen's Chapel Church of Christ. She was survived by two sons, George Bennie Ambrose (Barbara) and Galin Mitchell Ambrose (Gail); daughter, Lucinda Kay "Cindy" Ambrose; sister, Faye Waters; seven grandchildren, Melissa Austin, Beverly Wallace, Heather Elliott, Jake Ambrose, Candice Franklin, Crystal Ambrose and Marily Harts; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Ambrose in 1980; three sisters, Agnes Everett, Doris Canady and Ethel Boyd; and two brothers, Coleman Everett and Vernon Everett. Her funeral was held December 18, 2009, with Dennis Davis and Bobby Gene Waters officiating.
