Mr. Dominick J. Ambrose, age 72, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Utica on April 16, 1937, the son of the late Joseph and Anna Pisano Ambrose. He was educated in local schools, having been a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. Dominick proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1957-1960. On September 24, 1960, he was joined in marriage to Carol Gentile in Mt. Carmel Church, a blessed union of 48 years. Dominick worked along side his brothers, Rocco and Louis, for many years until their passing. Dominick then became owner and operator of Ambrose Electric, a job he truly loved and never considered to be "work". Dominick's son Michael also worked alongside him for several years. Michael will continue to uphold the same standards and sincerity that his father instilled into him. He was a member of the NY Mills Gun Club, and the Greenfield Gun Club, where he enjoyed his favorite pastime, skeet shooting. Dominick was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who loved being with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with them at his summer camp on Hinckley Lake. Dominick was a quiet, loving, special person who always found the good in life and those around him. Never judgmental and always guiding, he will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. Surviving are his beloved wife, Carol; one loving daughter, Caroline Boris of New Hartford; his beloved son and daughter–in-law, Michael and AnneMarie Ambrose of New Hartford; his cherished grandchildren, Santina Bonacci, Briana and Vanessa Ambrose, and Anthony Sirianni; his in-laws, Theresa Ambrose, Santo Gentile, AnnaMarie Gentile, Joann and Steve Judson, and Frank Gentile; and several nieces and nephews. Dominick also had many dear friends, too numerous to mention, "but each one of you were very special to him". He also leaves behind his faithful canine companion "Louie". He was predeceased by two brothers, Rocco and wife Angela Ambrose, and Louis Ambrose, brother-in-law, Joseph Testa, and sister-in-law, Sarah Gentile. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 9:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, at the convenience of the family. There are no public visiting hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of mass at church. The family extends a heartfelt thank you

Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.

My close friend "Dick". I will miss the fun times we had trap shooting and going for coffee. We had many discussions about work, health and especially the past. There was a humor to them. I have known you and your family for almost 40 years both as busine...(Read more)
