Edward A. Ambrose

Edward A. Ambrose, 81, of Greensburg, died peacefully Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Allegheny General Hospital Trauma in Pittsburgh.

He was born June 18, 1928, in Brackenridge, the son of the late Edward A. Sr. and Mary (Balucha) Ambrose.

Prior to his retirement in 1990, he was employed as a supervisor at PPG Industries in South Greensburg. Ed was a graduate of Springdale High School, class of 1946, and was a star basketball player. He served in the Army and is a World War II veteran and also served in the Air Force at the start of the Korean War.

He loved sports and was an avid golfer and member of Mt. Odin Golf Club. He was a lifetime member of Fort Allen Fire Hall, a member of the Roosevelt Club of Hempfield Township and the 49ers Club. He was a member of St. Paul Parish Carbon.

Ed has a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them and they loved spending time with him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Felock) Ambrose, with whom he would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in November; devoted daughters, Cynthia Stoner and her husband, Frank, of Buffalo, N.Y., and Barbara Mumau and her husband, Paul, of South Greensburg; devoted sons, Jeff Ambrose and his wife, Donna, and Scott Ambrose and his wife, Margie, both of Greensburg. He will also be sadly missed by his grandsons, Ryan Ambrose and Justin Ambrose, both of Greensburg; along with his nephews, nieces and cousins.

To all his many friends who miss seeing Ed, he leaves many cherished memories.

There will be no public visitation.

A funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, Greensburg, with the Rev. Thomas A. Federline officiating.

Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
