He was brought up working on a farm until he enlisted in the United States army in the 1950's. After being honorably discharged from the army, he was married to Irene Lawrence on July 5, 1958. In May of 1959 their first child was born, Vernon Joseph Amaro. The following year on August 6, their only daughter was born, Sheila Marie Amaro. Late in 1961 a second son was born to them, Shannon Michael Amaro. After five years passed their final son was born in December, 1966, Jerry Dean Amaro. Joe worked for M. Curti and sons in Waukena beginning in 1961 and retired from the company in 1992. Joe became a Grandfather in July of 1981 when his first Grandson Marty Joe Hawley was born. Four years later a second Grandson Waylon Hawley was born in December of 1985. These two Grandchildren were from his Daughter Sheila. In April of 1987 another Grandson Nicholas Amaro was born to son Shannon. After his death in 1997 a Grandaughter Raelean Amaro was born in October also to Shannon. In September of 1998 his second Grandaughter Alexis Raquel Amaro was born to his youngest son Jerry Dean. Joe developed congestive heart failure and passed away on April 20, 1997. He was interred in The Tulare District Cemetary on April 24, 1997. We all love him and miss him dearly.
UPDATE: Joe has twice since became a Great-Grandfather. On January 26th, 2005 Bradley Joseph Hawley was born to his Grandson Marty and in October of 2008 Landon Jay Hawley was born to his Grandson Waylon.
