Cecil L. Alwerdt, 46, of Riverton died Saturday, April 7, 2007, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Kenyon, Minn. He was born Sept. 23, 1960, in Great Falls, Mont., the son of Louis C. and Marlene O. Knutson Alwerdt. He married Cassandra K. "Casey" Wrest on May 21, 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Alwerdt was a union pipe fitter. He traveled all over the United States, working on numerous construction projects, including the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark. He was a former member of the Irving Illinois Volunteer Fire Department and had served as assistant chief and secretary and was a certified first responder.
He was a member of Pipe and Steam Fitters Local 155 in Little Rock. After Hurricane Katrina, Cecil went to Mississippi and used his expertise to assist with the clean-up efforts with Bechtel County FEMA. He was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are his wife, Cassandra "Casey"; two daughters and two sons. He is also survived by one grandchild; his sister and two brothers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services, Bisch and Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, near Riverton.
