She was born July 20, 1930, in Cullman, Ala., and resided in Markleville since 1958.
Florine retired in 1988 from Guide Division of General Motors.
She was a member of Columbus Avenue Church of Christ. Florine liked to cook and quilt. She always put others before herself.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Melvin Smith; children, Brenda Hull of Anderson and David (Susan) Smith of Markleville; sister, Pauline Peek of Anderson; grandchildren, Michael (Jeanie) Hull, Kevin Smith, Leigh Smith (Todd Vargo), Adam Smith and Diane Smith (Stan Arthur); six great-grandchildren, Hannah Sands, Nora Hull, Reagan Arthur, Quinton Arthur, Jasla Vargo and Bryce Smith; and two beloved cats, Thumper and Shaniqua.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Martha L. (Adamson) Alvis; sisters, Shirley Jackson and Mary Dean; and brother, Frank Alvis.
