MARGARET ALVESTAD

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Davidson Alvestad, 75, Story City, were held May 12, from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, with the Revs. C. A. Gisselquist and Harold T. Masted officiating. Burial was in Story City Cemetery.

Mrs. Alvestad died May 9 at Story City Memorial Hospital after an illness of two years.

Mrs. Alvestad was born in Larvik, Norway, March 10, 1895. She came to the United States with her parents and originally settled in Chicago, Ill. in 1903.

She was confirmed in the Ebenezer Lutheran Church of Chicago.

On July 31, 1915, she was married to the Rev. T. J. Alvestad, who was at the time, pastor of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chicago.

The Rev. and Mrs. Alvestad lived in and served parishes in Chicago, Ill., Weehawken, N.J. and Story City. They also served several terms as interim pastor in churches around the area.

Survivors include her husband and cousins in Chicago, New Haven, Conn., Indiana and Norway.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Davidson, who made their home with the Rev. and Mrs. Alvestad for 25 years.

Pallbearers were Leonard Anderson, Richard Alvestad, Wayne Alvestad, LeVerne Alvestad, Dale Alvestad, Earl Gramby.
