ABRAHAM ALVARADO SR.
Rosary is to be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church for Abraham Morales Alvarado Sr., 73, a South Alameda Street resident. Mass is to be celebrated at the church at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. John Elmer is to officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are to be Felipe Talavera, Jimmy Granger, Jim Granger, Augustine Florez, Joe Minjares and Joel Zuniga.
Mr. Alvarado died Wednesday (Sept. 1, 1993) at Guadalupe Medical Center.
Arrangements are being handled by West Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Barstow, Texas, to Julian and Dolores Alvarado.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from July 8, 1942, to Feb. 6, 1946.
Mr. Alvarado then returned to Carlsbad, where he worked for Southwestern Public Service, retiring from there after 25 years.
He was later employed by IMCC, retiring again on July 1, 1983, due to a disability.
He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, Angel G. Alvarado, who died April 17, 1991.
Survivors include three sons, Adam Alvarado and Abel Alvarado, both of Los Angeles, and Abraham Alvarado Jr. of Carlsbad; five daughters, Amanda Granger and Angie Alvarado, both of Carlsbad, Adele Talavera of Hollister, Calif., Anna Alvarado of West Covina, Calif., and Andrea Alvarado of Gilroy, Calif.; one brother, Alvaro Alvarado of San Jose, Calif.; two sisters, Alicia Navarrette and Amparo Zuniga, both of Carlsbad, and seven grandchildren.
