Mariano Alvarado y Palomares was born at Los Ángeles, Alta California, New Spain, December 7, 1818, and baptized the following day at Mission San Gabriel (SG Baptism 06244). He was the son of Juan Nepomuceno Alvarado y Amador (BP Baptism 00093) and María del Carmen Bárbara Palomares y Saez (BP Baptism 00177). He married María Soledad Ávila y ? at Mission San Gabriel August 30, 1843 (SGL Marriage 01962).
