DELAVAN - Frank V. Altine, 76, of Delavan, Ill., died at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.
He was born Feb. 14, 1933, in rural Delavan to Forrest and Adele Thaller Altine. He married Betty Hamblin on June 1, 1951, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2000. He then married Margaret Bridges on April 25, 2003, and she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Kathryn Scott of Bushkill, Pa., Melinda (Steve) Nix of Rosharon, Texas, and Deborah Conteras of Houston, Texas; three sons, Phillip Altine of Buford, Ga., Jeffrey (Mary) Altine of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Adrian (Katie) Altine of Fort Worth, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Hilst of Pekin, Ill.; and one brother, Pete Altine of Georgia.
He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas, and several brothers and sisters.
Frank served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member and past commander of Delavan American Legion Post 382. He was also a member of the 40 et 8.
He was employed for 40 years by IBM, retiring in 1995.
He attended Delavan Presbyterian Church and volunteered at Pekin Hospital for many years.
