Sudden Death of Mrs. Alice Althouse
at the Age of 61 Years - Others
Mrs. Alice Althouse (nee Newhard), aged 61 years, widow of Geo. Althouse, died suddenly on Thursday afternoon at the home of her brother, P. Preston Newhard, 1252 Spruce street. Mrs. Althouse, who lived alone at 432 Buttonwood street, was a frequent and welcome guest at the home of her brother. On Monday she arrived at his home for a visit of several days. Mrs. Althouse had not been ailing and her death came as a shock. She was a member of the First Reformed Church. Deceased, who was a daughter of Captain E. K. Newhard, of Allentown, is survived by two sons, Horace, of this city, and Edmund, of Phila., two brothers, Harry Newhard, of Allentown, and P. Preston, Reading, and four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Colt, Mrs. C. M. W. Keck and Miss Ella Newhard, of Allentown, and Mrs. Thomas Haines, of Portsmouth, Va.

The relatives and friends of the family are respectfully invitied to attend the funeral without further notice, from the residence of her brother, P. Preston Newhard, 1252 Spruce st., on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services at the house. Interment private in Charles Evans Cemetery.

Mrs. Alice J. Althouse
The funeral for Alice J., widow of George D. Althouse, took place at 2 p.m. today from the home of her brother, P. Preston Newhard, 1252 Spruce street. Services were conducted at the house by Rev. John F. Moyer. The pulbearers were Joseph Lerch, George Strickler, Charles Clemson and H. C. Wiltmore. The remains were attired in black, and lay in a square walnut casket, with silver trimmings and plate, bearing the name and age. Interment was made in Charles Evans Cemetery. Undertaker Heninger had charge.
