Mrs. Mary Altenbaumer of 1304 East Pine stret received a telegram yesterday afternoon announcing the death of her son, Charles Altenbaumer, who was killed in Moberly, Mo., where he has been for the past five weeks. The particulars of hte death of Mr. Altenbaumer was not learned by his mother. For 21 years Mr. Altenbaumer had been employed by the Wabash railroad, being an excellent machinist. Five weeks ago he moved to Moberly, Mo., where he was assistant foreman of the Wabash shops.
He was born April 26, 1875, at Fort Wayne, Ind., but had been a resident of this city for about 23 years. he was a memer of Capital City camp No. 38, Modern Woodmen of America, and also of the machinists' union of this city.
Mr. Altenbaumer is survived by his mother and two brothers, William of this city, and George, who is connected with the United States navy, now stationed at the Philippine Islands; also by two sisters, Mrs. David Nolan and Mrs. Arland Moon, both of this city. The remains of Charles F. Altenbaumer, who was killed at Moberly, Mo., Monday morning, arrived in this city Tuesday morning over the Wabash. The funeral will be held at the residence this afternoon. The interment will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. IL State Journal, 5-5-1909
