Henderson - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4 pm, on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Hilda "Mom Balloon" D. Altemus, 94, who passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Hilda was a member of the Ladies Altar Society at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and always prayed the rosary. Hilda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Harvey Altemus; daughters, Ester Latiolais, Virginia Noel and husband Elridge, and Susie Stelly and husband Donald; sisters, Adelle Guilbeaux, Mildred Roberts, and Beulah Doucet; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Altemus; parents, Herman and Adelaide Burch Dupuis; son, Garland Altemus; sister, Hazel Berard; brothers, Cleveland Dupuis and Kaiser Dupuis; grandsons, Cashmin James Dugas and Garland Altemus; and a granddaughter, Donna Trahan.
