TOPEKA--Phillip Wayne Alquist, 52, died Monday, Aug.
7, 2006, at his home in Topeka.
Mr. Alquist was born Sept. 19, 1953, at Clay Center, the
son of Keith and Gyle (Hinkel) Alquist.
He grew up in Clay Center and graduated from high school
in 1972. He had worked for Dillons Grocery Store and later
as an inventory controller at the Payless Shoe
Distribution Center in Topeka. He married Debbie Griffin,
Jan. 1, 1994 at Topeka.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Alquist of Topeka; one
daughter, Emerald Renee Alquist of Sioux City, Iowa; two
sons, Derek Wayne Alquist and Mark Phillip Alquist, both
of Bloomfield, Iowa; two step-sons, David Baker of Topeka
and Marshall Sheppard of Hutchinson; his father, Keith E.
Alquist I of Clay Center; four brothers, Keith Alquist II
of Colorado, Eric V. Alquist of Clay Center; Jim Smith of
Salina and Bill Smith of Topeka; three sisters, Christine
Sauder of Manhattan, Connie Newsom of Washington State and
Patricia Halstead of Clay Center; one granddaughter; and
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3611 SW
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday
at the church. He will lie in state from 12 to 5 p.m.
Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Midland Hospice or the LDS
Church, Colly Creek Ward in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
