He was the husband of Shirley (Goodrich) Alo and a son of the late Joseph L. and Anna (Bastari) Alo. He moved to Littleton as a teenager, graduating from Littleton High School in 1962. He continued his education at Lowell Technical School, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

He worked at Bowl-Mor and Chu Associated, both in Littleton, for several years. He also owned and operated Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication for many years, and then established the Manufacturers Representative Consulting Business. Most recently, he was a superintendent at Sonoco in Devens.

He was a member of St. Anne's Church in Littleton, and had served on the Littleton Park and Recreation Commission. He enjoyed playing pool and golf.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son; a daughter; a sister; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Louise Thompson.
