A loving son, father, husband and grandfather, he passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006. He was 62 and a resident of Denham Springs. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Wednesday, Aug. 30, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Thursday from 8 a.m. until service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dennis E. Allen. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife, Iris Breaux Almond; son, Brian David Almond of Baker; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shannon Almond Brown of Zachary and Kelley Guillot Stein and husband Trent Stein of Brusly; five grandchildren, Magan Brown of Zachary, Taylor, Travis and Tylar Almond, all of Baker, and Drew Stein of Brusly. He is also survived by a loving mother, Pauline Baker Almond of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward E. Almond. He gave 33 years of service to Dow Chemical and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman and a lover of animals, especially his three dogs, Sassi, Sammy and Sebastian. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Almond, Trent Stein, Chris Breaux, Morris Crochet, Michael Santangelo and Johnny Long. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Long, Todd Crochet, B.B. Thompson, Bill Campbell, Rob Webb, Gary Jones, Brian Vicknair, George Lee, Ed Jenkins and Curtis Aguillard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4962 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
