Bobby Joe was born on March 7, 1931 in Arcadia, LA and passed away April 12, 2007 in Shreveport following a lengthy illness. He was a graduate of Bossier High School and played on their 1948 State Champion Football Team. He graduated from the FBI Academy in Washington, D.C. and served in the United Staes Navy during the Korean War on the Aircraft Carrier USS Kearsarge. Bobby Joe retired as Chief of Police in Bossier City and later served as a Deputy City Marshall. He was a member of Cypress Baptist Church and earlier had been a Deacon at the Northside Baptist Church in Bossier City. He was also a lifelong member of Palmetto Country Club where he was an avid, scratch golpher.
Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his father, Clifford W. Almond; mother, Annie Penix Almond and brother David Milton Almond. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Georgia Sult Almond, step-mother Frances Almond of Bossier City: children Richard C. Almond and wife Bobbie Jo Almond of Benton, LA; Laura Almond Dodd and husband Earle Dodd of Shreveport, LA and Robert D. Almond and wife Liz Almond of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his sister Pauline Wall of Laurel, MS: His grandchildren Richard G. Almond and wife Sharon, Teresa Dodd Weiland and husband Eric Weiland, Trey Dodd, and Jordyn Allyssa Almond on the way; His great-grandchildren Tyler, Tucker, and Tanner Almond, BreAnne and Christian Weiland.
Pallbearers will be Earle Dodd, Richard G. Almond, Robert C. Almond, Eric Weiland, Trey Dodd, and Ira Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Bossier City Police Department.
Bobby Joe requested that in lieu of flowers memorials should be given to Grace Home located at 1035 Margaret Place in Shreveport, LA 71101.
