Jean L. Allyn, 83 of Apalachin, N.Y., passed away on Tuesday evening, Aug. 2, 2011 at Willow Point Nursing Home in Vestal, N.Y. She is survived by her husband, Hartley Allyn; her two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin and Judy Allyn, Cortland, N.Y. and Terry Allyn, Newark Valley, N.Y.; her four grandchildren, Jess Allyn, Ryan Allyn, Amy Allyn and Dillon Hunt; and her two great grandchildren, Kenra Allyn and Wyatt Allyn. Jean was born in Owego, N.Y. on July 31, 1928, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Tuthill) Travis. She enjoyed many outdoor activities, from snowmobiling with her family and friends to hunting and fishing with her husband. Jean was also an exceptional cook.
A funeral service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17C West, Owego, N.Y. on Saturday August 6, 2011, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Donna Taylor Martin officiating.
