Of his parents' eight children that included four sons, only two sons survived -- Jonathan Edison Allum and his elder brother, Nelson Melville Allum.

Born to Andrew Kimmins Allum, 1841-1918, and Margaret Ann Loar, 1842-1904, at the age of less than one year Jonathan accompanied his parents from Greene County, Pennsylvania to Jasper County, Iowa in 1869. He lived in Iowa until 1893 when, yet again with his parents, he migrated to Cass County, Missouri. In 1897 in Missouri Jonathan married Anna B. Kirk, supporting himself and wife as a farmer. Did Anna pass on? In 1906 in Oklahoma, Jonathan married Sarah Frances "Fanny" Lain. Already by 1910 he is documented "widower" in the census for that year. With wife Fanny, Jonathan had one child, daughter Lucinda Mae ("Lucy"), born April 1, 1907, died May 20, 1975. Lucy married Clyde A. Wise, 1904-1982, and had two sons. Lucy and Clyde are buried in Highland Cemetery, Ashland, Clark County, Kansas.

Without wife Fanny, Jonathan is buried in Union Center Cemetery near Dacoma in Woods County, Oklahoma, the same cemetery in which his parents, Andrew and Margaret, are interred. Second wife Fanny is with her own parents at Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, Lincoln County, Oklahoma. --DeeAnna
