Claire Julian Allred

OGDEN - Claire Julian Allred returned home to meet his loving wife, Dorothy, on May 9, 2004.

He was born August 11, 1922, in Marriot, Weber, Utah, the 4th child of Florence Rosealtha Butler and Orson Parley Allred.

As a young boy he enjoyed being in the out of doors and spent many hours helping with the family farm and Milk Delivery business. He enjoyed playing football while attending Weber High School.

He joined the Army Air Corps November 1942 where he gained many honors as a top gunner. He became the ball turret gunner on his B-24 crew. On his last mission they were shot down over Germany where he became a POW for 10 months. They were liberated in April 1945.

He retuned home to marry his sweetheart, Dorothy Jean Williams on July 11, 1945. They were later sealed as a family in the Logan Temple in 1957.

He attended night classes and graduated from Stephen Henager College with an Accounting Degree. He was active in the LDS Church serving two Stake Missions and a Church History Mission. He held positions in his church including many years as both Ward and Stake Financial Clerk, Sunday School Presidency, and Scouting leader to name a few. He has made many contributions to genealogy and temple work. He retired after 35 years with the US Postal Service after which he worked 10 years and retired from McKay Dee Hospital. Both Claire and Dorothy loved working in their rose garden. He was a member of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. His love, devotion, and loyalty to our Nation and his respect for the flag will not be forgotten. His quick wit and "punny" personality will be missed.

He is survived by five daughters and one son: Jeanne Erickson, Crosby, ND, DeLayne (B. Wayne) Mifflin, Cedar City, KaeLynn (Phil) Anderson, Georgetown, TX, Beth Cottam, St. George, Julie (Dave) Wager, West Jordan, Hoyt (Dena) Allred, Plain City, and Kathi Allred, Kaysville, 25 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Sisters and Brother: Melba Dabb, Ogden, Dean (Charlotte) Allred, Lom Poc, CA, and Carma (John) Chase, St. George.
