Rolla Allred is Taken Suddenly
Mr. Rolla S. Allred, 57, died suddenly of a heart attack Monday night at his home in Hartley, Iowa. He had been in forced treatment for several years because of a heart condition.
A native of Wayne County, he grew up and attended school in Corydon. After his graduation from the State University of Iowa he taught school and coached athletics. One of his last coaching jobs was here in Corydon. Rolla worked for his brother, Myron, in his drug store for a time before buying a grocery store. In 1951 he and his family moved to Hartley in northern Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; two sons, Charles and William; one brother, Myron; his father, Ernest, both of Corydon and one sister, Ernestine Schlichting of Andolusa, Ill.
Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) in Hartley, and there will be another service in Corydon at 11:00 a.m. Friday from the Wolf Funeral Home here in Corydon. Interment will be in the Corydon Cemetery.
