Mrs. Ann Allison of Mt. Etna vicinity, passed away December 30, 1943, at the age of 87years, 11 months and 21 days. Mrs. Allison had been in poor health for several years and had grown very feeble. On Wednesday, her condition became critical and she passed away at 5:40 Thursday morning.

Ann L. McCune was born in Ohio January 10, 1855, the daughter of Charlotte and Pardon McCune. As a child, she came to Adams County with her parents and other members of the family, and has made her home in the Mt. Etna vicinity where she grew to womanhood, was married, and raised her family. She was married on January 27, 1872, to Jim Allison, the ceremony performed by Rev. A. Y. Cupp, in the parsonage. To this union were born four children, three of whom preceded their mother in death, one infant daughter, Mrs. Nora Thompson, and Ira Allison.

In the passing of this pioneer woman, the loss is not only to her immediate loved ones, but to the entire community in which she lived. Her entire life was devoted to her business of being a homemaker, and her thought was always of her family and the kind deeds she could do for others. To know her was to love her, and her gentle kindly ways, her patience and thoughtfulness will long be a kindly remembrance and benediction to those who were to those who were fortunate enough to have been her friends.

Three grandchildren _____ the ____ of an _____________ Mrs. ____ Bressler, _________ and Russell and Darrell Allison of Mt. Etna. Three great-grandchildren also survive, Irene, Raymond, and Ina Bressler, of Junction City, Kansas.

Mrs. Allison was a member of the Baptist Church and after moving to Mt. Etna attended church regularly until her hearing and eyesight failed her.

Four sisters have preceded her in death, Mrs. Elmer Cupp, Corning, Mrs. Sam Powell, of Canada, Mrs. Dr. Sweet, of Mt. Etna, and Mrs. Will Swartz, of Ottumwa.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, at 2 o'clock from the Mt. Etna Methodist Church, with Rev. Harry Rogers in charge. Burial was made in Forest Hill Cemetery.
